Kiddie Pillar
This weekend we visited a friend’s neighborhood for their Independence Day celebration. We stayed inside and played poker for a little while, and then decided to walk around and see what the carnival thing was all about. It was mostly kid-centered, with a rock wall, sno-cones, funnel cakes, water slides, jump castles, and the like. We were heading back to the house to finish up our poker game, but something stopped us dead in our tracks.
Imagine a huge jump castle shaped like a caterpillar, filled with air, with a hole on either end. Kids climb in the front hole and crawl all the way through to the rear hole. Fun, huh?
Well, the thing is. . . the holes. They’re a little. . . disturbing. I’m not sure how Google Images’ “SafeSearch” works, but you may have to disable it to get the full effect of The Kiddie Pillar.
There he was, huge smile on his face, children crawling into his (her?) big, uh, opening. On one occasion, the mother of one of the children walked around to the other side, pryed open the rear hole, and stuck her head in. Since Kiddie Pillar is pressurized, this released a gust of air, and, well, hilarity ensued.
I’m sure it was clear to anyone passing by what we were giggling about. A group of about 8 of us stood speechless for several minutes before one of us said, “Does that look like a . . .” “Yes, yes it does. Let’s go.”
